Terms and Conditions

Welcome to Pillar Pilates! I’m Michelle Monk, a Pilates Instructor trading as Pillar Pilates, based in Dover, Kent (Buckland Ave, CT16 2NN). Below, you’ll find everything you need to know about booking, attending classes, cancellations and more.


Group Class Cancellation Policy

Once booked, group classes cannot be cancelled due to processing fees and upfront venue hire costs. However, if you can’t attend, you can login to your account and transfer your booking to another class of the same value up until 24 hours before the event.

  • Transfers must be completed within your block booking’s validity period (if applicable).
  • Bookings are non-transferable to another person.
  • At this time, Packages are not able to be cross-booked with other locations.

Health & Safety

Your well-being is my top priority. Please:

  • Consult your doctor if you’re unsure about starting a Pilates class.
  • Inform me of any health conditions or injuries before attending by updating the PAR-Q form yearly or if there are any changes to your health condition.
  • Exercise in a clear, well-lit space with comfortable clothing that allows freedom of movement.
  • Bring a non-slip mat.

Remember, you participate at your own risk. Listen to your body, and if you feel unwell, stop immediately and seek medical advice.


Booking & Payments

  • All bookings must be paid in advance via my online booking system unless otherwise arranged with me.
  • Private sessions are arranged directly; please contact me to discuss your needs.
  • I accept card payments via Stripe (no account needed).

For home visits, an extra £1 per mile applies beyond a 6-mile radius of CT16.


Group Class Details

  • Classes run for 45-60 minutes (check the schedule for exact timings).
  • Please arrive 5-10 minutes early to ensure a smooth start. If you arrive more than 5 minutes late, you may not be allowed to join as warm-up is essential.
  • Keep your contact details up-to-date to receive class updates or timetable changes.

For block bookings, remember to use all sessions before their expiry date!


Initial Consultations & Private Sessions

Cancellations & Refunds:

  • Cancel/reschedule with at least 24 hours’ notice for a full refund or transfer.
  • Less than 24 hours’ notice: the full rate is charged.

All consultations and private session blocks must be used within their respective validity periods:

  • Initial Consultations: 90 days
  • Private Sessions: 180 days

Bookings are non-transferable to another person.


What to Bring

  • Please bring your own mat for hygiene and comfort.
  • Wear fitted clothing that allows movement; grip socks or bare feet are recommended.
  • Bring a small towel or cushion and a water bottle to class. (Water is available from the kitchens if needed)

Liability & Consent

By attending my classes, you acknowledge and accept:

  • Exercise carries risks; you participate voluntarily and assume responsibility for your own well-being.
  • Hands-on corrections may be used to enhance your practice.
  • I reserve the right to cancel or reschedule classes due to unforeseen circumstances, offering credits or alternative dates where applicable.

If you’re pregnant, unfortunately, I can’t accept new participants, but I’ll provide tailored advice and modifications if you notify me promptly.


Lost Property

Personal belongings are your responsibility during classes. If you leave something behind, let me know, and I’ll do my best to retrieve it.


Liability Release


– I understand that my teacher is a qualified and insured Pilates mat class teacher.
– I understand that Pillar Pilates is in no way responsible for the safekeeping of my personal belongings while I attend class.
– I will tell the teacher of anything painful/unusual I experience in the class and between classes.
– I will stop doing the exercise if I or my teacher thinks I need to, or follow the alternatives my teacher gives me.
– I understand my teacher may offer me professional advice relating to my ability to exercise and the teacher may consider it unprofessional to continue to teach me if I do not wish to follow that advice.
– I will keep my teacher updated on any changes in my medical condition.
– I understand that all exercise carries a risk and I voluntarily participate in Pillar Pilates classes with full knowledge that there is a risk of personal injury, property loss, or death. I agree that neither I, my heirs, assigns or legal representatives will sue or make any other claims of any kind whatsoever against Michelle Monk or Pillar Pilates, or members for any personal injury, property damage/loss, or wrongful death, whether caused by negligence or otherwise.
– I acknowledge that I have either had a physical examination and have been given my Doctor’s/health care professional permission to participate, or that I have decided to participate in activity without the approval of my Doctor/health care professional and do hereby assume all responsibility for my participation and activities, and utilisation of equipment in my activities.
– If I am struggling with anything in class, or have any problems or concerns, I will let the instructor know as soon as I can so that the instructor can do their best to help or make modifications.
– I understand that classes at Pillar Pilates may involve hands-on correction and I hereby consent for my instructor to work this way.
– I reserve the right to change the advertised instructor if the instructor is unavailable due to illness or unforeseen circumstances. No money will be refunded if the class instructor changes. If the class is cancelled, then you will be offered an alternative date or receive a credit to use on a future event.
– If there are not enough people booked into the class to run it, I reserve the right to cancel the class. A credit will be given to you to use on a future event.
– I understand that Pillar Pilates, and Michelle Monk will not be held responsible or liable for any injury or harm I sustain as a result of using exercise videos shared by email, video and text.
